sdlc and pmlc

the less popular pmlc stands for “project management life cycle” which i am at least as interested in as an sdlc. a very popular pmlc is a collection of project management knowledge that has been  developed and published by an organization known as the “project management institute” or pmi. their book is called the “project management body of knowledge” or pmbok. if you are not familiar with the pmbok and are calling yourself or want to call yourself a project manager, you should become familiar with the contents of this pmbok real soon! in any case i’ll be subscribing to your rss feed and i hope you write again soon! i like the valuable information you provide in your articles.

good luck for the next! i think of the pmlc and sdlc as two concentric circles. the outer cycle is the pmlc and represents the pm work organized into knowledge areas (i.e., scope mgmt, time mgmt, cost mgmt, risk mgmt, etc.). the pm work is executed repeatedly on top of each sdlc phase. see for an overview on applying the pmbok and sdlc processes on a software development project. this ‘structure’ allows us to replace an inner waterfall circle with other styles of life cycles: rapid, iterative, object, agile and even the next one, whatever that might be!

as depicted above, the pmlc is the main point of integration for the project’s various life cycle deliverables. managing the project “swim lanes” is the key 3. pmlc provides a top-level view of the project while sdlc provides a ground level view. 4. sdlc focuses on development of the system where for software development, the product is the software, and the sdlc represents the product development life cycle. as the software industry is not as mature as, difference between sdlc and pmlc, difference between sdlc and pmlc, sdlc and pmlc methodologies, what is pmlc in project management, pmlc phases.

the inner cycle is the sdlc which represents the it work (i.e., need/problem analysis, requirements analysis, architect/design, etc.). the outer cycle is the pmlc and represents the pm work (i.e., scope mgmt, time mgmt, cost mgmt, risk mgmt, etc.). the pmlc bounds the sdlc. project life cycle explains how the work should be managed from the project acquisition till its closure where as software development cycle (sdlc) mainly sdlc = requirements, design, development, qa testing, uat, i have a blog article that may help with understanding how pmlc and sdlc interacts for an the truth lies somewhere in between. in terms of importance to a project, the sdlc and a project management method are co-equals which complement each other., pmlc model, what is sdlc project management. what is the difference between pmlc and sdlc? what is the difference between sdlc and splc? what is the difference between plc and sdlc? how does sdpm cycle can be related to sdlc?

When you try to get related information on sdlc and pmlc, you may look for related areas. difference between sdlc and pmlc, sdlc and pmlc methodologies, what is pmlc in project management, pmlc phases, pmlc model, what is sdlc project management.
