it doesn’t really matter the number of people present because as long as you are speaking to more than one person at a time the way you talk and the words you use are fundamentally the same. the more knowledgeable you are about what you’re speaking on, the better your presentation will become. so practice to the point you are ready for anything. be it a small class presentation or an extremely critical presentation to the board of directors of your company. always arrive early to the venue where you are presenting and make yourself comfortable with your surroundings.
the fear of public speaking is essentially two separate fears; one that you will make a fool of yourself and two that someone will make fun of how you look, dres, etc. just imagine you are speaking to a group of your friends whenever you speak in public. instead of waiting for perfection, run with what you go, and fix it along the way… ― paul arden this focus will not just help your presentation become better but you will feel more relaxed and confident as you will masterfully speak your well-versed speech to the audience. all of us are expert in what we do always, living for a particular thing gives focus and confident to get going. this you have a purpose for and it keeps you going more importantly there is an expectation.
i have enjoyed your blog and look forward to learning from you throughout 2008. i would add the skill of interacting with the crowd before your presentation. i think the mentoring piece could be an add-on to number 24. the mentoring is really just a personal and specific method of doing number 24. a lot of people underestimate the amount of work that is required in putting together a class or presentation. hi, i am a motivation speaker to and for those with learning challenges. but overall i think this was a very good article and keep up the good work. build up to the emotion and then bring your audience back to a safe place. if you still don’t know the answer, it is best to be honest and admit that you don’t know it. instead of writing notes, you should give the presentation in front of a friend and encourage him/her to ask questions.
in essence you have touched based on the basics and the core values of public speaking. once a connection is made, the audience actually receiving the information and paying attention to it comes naturally, because you command that attention. you have to keep the audience entertained. the skills i thought are helpful is number 1 and number 23. number 1 is right to be a good speaker you must research your topic. #14 – i think this is probably one of the hardest things to do, at least for me, if speaking in public is not your forte. when a speaker starts to speak audience are enthusiastic to listen to the speech and at the end they want to know what is the result. of course, i will follow your publishing guidelines and include a link back to the article.
